Because of email limitations which restrict size, sometimes it is easier to transfer files from you to Crestone Creations or from Crestone Creations to you via FTP. To make a long story short, FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is one way to simply
download/upload the file instead of sending it by email.
If you are the sender, it is kind to your intended recipients who may not be able to deal with massive
emails to be landing in their mailbox and you may save them frustration and avoid bogging down the
works.
Crestone Creations has a regular FTP site, but also uses iDisk as an easy, user-friendly FTP
site.
iDisk makes it very easy for both mac and PC users, but super-easy for Mac users.
- Mac users can mount the site on their desktop and
drag
and drop files on or off of the mounted disk as easily as dragging and dropping off of any connected drive or disk.
- PC users can get files from a web-based FTP site.
How to send/get a file to/from Crestone Creations:
For Mac users:
To access an iDisk Public folder, anyone using
Mac OS X v10.1 or later can:
1. choose iDisk from
the Finder Menu "Go:iDisk:Other User's Public Folder"

2. Enter the <username> given to you by Crestone Creations.
(don't put the <> brackets, just the name)
3. So now there will mount the crestone public disk on your desktop. You can make a folder for yourself and then drag and drop your files to that folder. How easy is that?
NOTE: Allow time for upload - it may seem like it's taking a long time to complete. That would be correct and proportional to the file size and transfer rate of your internet connection. How long should it take? See this chart for estimation - click here.
Another way to do it, for PC & Mac users:
You can upload and download files to your iDisk
from a browser on most Internet-connected computers
by
going to http://public.me.com/<username>/
(Enter the <username> given to you by Crestone Creations.
(don't put the <> brackets, just the name)).
For downloading (no uploading) from our public folder:
http://homepage.mac.com/<username>/
Again, substitute <username> with the target
username, less the <>
- please contact us for the username.
NOTE:
When going to the .mac site and initiating a download, sometimes an
error message is returned the first time
you try
to access the file. The error message is something like:
" Sorry, but we can't find the HomePage you've requested." The fix is simply to try again. It seems to be
a bug with .mac (from 2007)
