Creating and useing ftp space with my hosting account.

The easiest way to create an independent FTP site using your domain name yet separate and distnict from your web file space is accomplished in the following manner:

1. Log in as Client Admin or as a Domain Admin
for instructions click here

2. Create a "Web User Account" as per the user manual section, "Managing Web Users"

(or view the flash tutorial - CLICK HERE)*

3. You may now ftp files to this locale using the settings
domain = your domain
directory = [leave this blank]
username = the one you setup
password = the one you assigned

4. Give out the info in field 3 to those with whom you want to share files. Others may then use their FTP programs to access the files. This space is separate from all other spaces. You may also direct them to

Code:
ftp://yourdomain.com

and by using the given username & password they can log on.

Note: this new space could also be used as a sub-web space via the url yourdomain.com/~username

Eg. You could have an entirely separate web site here with unique logins. Good if you want to give someone their own private web space within your hosting space, but not give up access to all your files and risk disruption to your web site.
